I started sewing as a child in 4-H. My mother, a home economics teacher, thought I would never sew very well as I hated ripping things out. Over time, though, I did enough volume to ease her fears as I perfected my skills.
I competed my 10th year in 4-H with a blue-ribbon tailoring project—a wool suit. I also completed advanced tailoring as a senior in high school by making a custom wool sport coat for my dad. I worked for two years at a fabric store and probably spent most of my earnings on fabric to create something!
I sewed my own wedding dress and when my children were little I had fun making them costumes and clothes. I have remade bridesmaid’s dresses into little girl dresses for my daughter, made her a wool coat and hat when she was younger, and made her many outfits and doll clothes through the years. I've made many little boy pants, shirts and vests and costumes for the American Frontier to Middle Earth. I've created valances and pillows, draperies and seat cushions.
In the spring of 2009 I tailored a showmanship outfit for a friend whose daughter showed horses. That’s what set me to thinking about sewing professionally. I love to sew and am very thankful to have my own business working from home! With several decades of of sewing experience behind me, let me sew what you imagine!
